Concrete Floor Installation at Warehouse in Anglesey
When our client approached Floor Screeding Solutions, they needed more than just a concrete floor. Their existing surface had seen years of heavy use and required a durable upgrade that would not only perform structurally but also deliver a smooth, professional finish with minimal long-term maintenance.
This was a large-scale project, covering over 1000m2 with varying slab depths between 50mm and 175mm. The challenge was to achieve strength, durability, and consistency across different thicknesses, while delivering a surface that would remain easy to maintain in the years ahead.
Scope of Works:
Preparation & Shuttering
Our team began by installing shuttering around existing columns and setting day joints in line with the technical specification. This allowed us to create clean construction breaks and plan for multiple pours without compromising strength.Creating a Strong Base
We then supplied and installed RC32/40 concrete to a minimum depth of 50mm over the highest point of the existing floor. A 500g slip membrane was laid to reduce cracking risk, and A393 reinforcement mesh was installed on supports to provide additional strength.
Building the Slab
The main slab was constructed in three pours, with dowel joints added between shuttered sections to improve load transfer and prevent movement. Where the slab required a deeper build-up, we poured to 175mm thickness and reinforced with mesh to further control cracking.Finishing Touches
Once poured, the slab was powerfloated to achieve a smooth, hard-wearing finish. We then installed saw cuts to control shrinkage and filled them with a two-part polyurea resin filler, leaving a seamless and professional surface.
As a final step, the floor was treated with UltraSlab from SmartCrete. This advanced system enhances durability, reduces maintenance needs, and gives the floor a professional finish built to withstand heavy traffic and industrial use.
